Peoria Lock Leads Traffic
Col . Richard M . Wells , Chicago district engineer , reported recently that the Peoria lock and dam , located on the Illinois waterway , led in volume of traffic for the sixth consecutive month . Peoria s September traffic totalled 2 , 499 , 760 tons.
Starved Rock was second in traffic, reporting 2, 225,610 tons and, third, Dresden Island with 2,209,330 tons.
Figures for other locks were Marseilles, 2,151,230 tons; Brandon road , 2,119,690 tons; La Grange, 2, 078,130 tons; Lockport, 2,020,640 tons; T.J. OBrien, 376,310 tons.
